Fig and Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Gourmet grilled cheese with fig butter, Gruyere, apple slices, and Unexpected Cheddar on artisan bread.
Ingredients
Produce
- 2 apples, thinly sliced
Dairy & Eggs
- 1 (8-oz) block Gruyere cheese, sliced
- 1 (7-oz) block Unexpected Cheddar Cheese, sliced
- 1/4 cup salted butter, softened
Pantry / Dry Goods
- 8 slices artisan bread
Sauces & Condiments
- 1/2 cup fig butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread, and place 4 slices butter-side down on a baking sheet.
- Top each slice with fig butter, Gruyere, apple slices, and Unexpected Cheddar.
- Place the remaining slices of bread on top of the cheese, butter-side up.
- Bake for 5 minutes, then remove from the oven and flip the sandwiches over. Bake for 5-7 more minutes, or until golden browned.
