Margherita Pizza
Servings:
Classic margherita pizza made with ready-to-bake dough, San Marzano tomato sauce, and fresh basil.
Ingredients
Produce
- 6 leaves fresh basil, torn off the stem
Dairy & Eggs
- 1 (16-oz) package whole milk low moisture mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
Pantry / Dry Goods
- 2 (16-oz) bags ready-to-bake pizza dough
- 1 (28-oz) can San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
Sauces & Condiments
- red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to high, with your rack on the top. Let dough sit to rest.
- Combine the tomatoes and salt in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Remove the dough from the bags and place on a floured surface. Divide each dough ball into two pieces of dough.
- Roll each piece into a 10-inch circle that fits on a baking sheet. Shape each piece into a circle. Once hot, put one of the shaped dough circles on the skillet. No need for excess flour. Immediately spread the dough with the San Marzano sauce and shredded cheese.
- After 3-4 minutes, when the bottom of the pizza is crispy, place the skillet directly into the oven. Broil for 4-5 minutes, until browned and bubbly on top.
- Top with the basil and garnish with red pepper flakes, if desired.
- Repeat with remaining pizzas.
